Fascinated by the aesthetic of the strokes of Arabic letters and their form, alongside her fondness for the Graffiti art, artists Mawadah Muhtasib is the pioneer of Arabic Calligraffiti typeface, a combination of Calligraffiti paintings and mirrored Arabic letters. Muhtasab’s Calligrafitti is a beautiful decorative contemporary Arabic handwritten typeface that is exclusively and exceptionally written from left to right — a celebration of a merge of two art forms: the legacy of Arabic calligraphy and the progressiveness of the graffiti art.
Mawadah Muhtasib is an artist and graphic designer from Jeddah. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Motion Graphics from Dar AlHekma University. Muhtasib’s work was recognized nationally and internationally as it won various competitions and was displayed at exhibitions in Jeddah, Riyadh, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, and NYC.
