Today’s Habit of Suppression for Convenience Becomes the Norm of Tomorrow
Artist Ramah ALHusseini thinks having open and honest conversations about one’s beliefs is a privilege that isn’t embraced by many families — they’d prefer lying and hiding who they truly are from each other to conform to social norms, which makes their lives much easier. This work illustrates how dishonesty and secrecy have replaced clear and honest communication with time.
Ramah ALHusseini is a Saudi conceptual painter of Palestinian descent based in Bahrain. Creating with a figurative surrealist approach, she tackles subjects of the everyday through research and conversation to manifest discussion.
