A Line on the Sand

In an attempt to explore our relationship with space and time, artist Ghadah Almuhammedi focuses on the human relationship with the stars, traditions, and forgotten practices that are characterized with mystery and myth in this performance art piece. It was inspired by an old tradition of the tribe of Harb, which was practiced in the desert of Medina until the 1950s. The piece proposes deep concepts about earth, space, history, identity, and what ignites the connection with the land amidst the ever-lasting changes on identity and belonging within desert dwellers.
